·about Piekshift
What is Piekshift?
Piekshift shifts your energy use away from the expensive peak hours (the "piek") toward cheaper and greener moments — automatically. It steers your battery, EV charger and heat pump so you use more of your own solar and buy less power when it's most expensive.
Do I need special hardware for Piekshift?
You need a Homey Pro and your energy devices added to Homey — a battery, EV charger, heat pump and/or a P1 dongle. Install the Piekshift app from the Homey App Store and pair it with the 12-digit code from your onboarding.
Who do I contact for help?
For anything about savings, steering, the app or this widget, email the Piekshift team and we'll help.
·getting started
What do I need to use the Piekshift?
A Homey Pro, an Athom account, and your energy devices added to Homeysuch as a battery, EV charger, heat pump and/or a P1 dongle. Then install the Piekshift app from the Homey App Store and pair it with the setup code from your onboarding.
Where do I get my setup code?
You receive a 12-digit code when you complete the web onboarding (we also email it). Enter it in the app during pairing to link your home. Lost it? Contact us and we'll resend it.
How long until I see results?
Your widget starts filling in within a day of pairing. Real savings build up as the optimizer runs (battery, EV, heat pump) across cheap, expensive and solar-surplus periods.
·my devices
Which devices can Piekshift steer?
Home batteries (e.g. Strooom), EV chargers (Tesla, Zaptec, NexBlue, OCPP), and heat pumps (e.g. Remeha eTwist via WarmteWizard), plus simple on/off devices. Piekshift reads your live power from a P1 dongle to decide when to charge, discharge or shift load.
How do I set which device is steered first?
Device priority determines the steering order and has the biggest effect on savings. You set it during onboarding (drag to reorder) and can change it later in the app.
·savings & billing
How is my saving calculated?
Each optimizer action is booked against the day-ahead spot price: we compare what you paid (or earned) versus the day's baseline. Captured free solar also credits the energy tax you'd otherwise pay on a grid import. Figures are estimates until the action completes.
Why was my saving small on some days?
Savings depend on price spread and solar. On flat-price, cloudy days there's simply less to gain. The optimizer still avoids the most expensive hours where it can.
·troubleshooting
My widget says "no data" or looks stale
This usually means your Homey stopped sending data. Open the Piekshift app on your Homey and make sure it's running; if it stays stuck, remove and re-add the Piekshift device (your settings are kept). If you got a repair link, follow it — it walks you through reconnecting.
I authorized the wrong Homey
Use the re-link option (from your repair link, or ask us). Log in with Homey and pick the home that actually runs the Piekshift app — we'll move your registration over without losing your settings.
My battery didn't charge/discharge when I expected
Piekshift only acts when it's profitable: it charges on cheap or surplus-solar periods and discharges when the price spread beats the charge cost. On a flat-price day it may correctly do nothing. Check the app for the current plan, or contact us with the date/time and we'll explain.
